Quality control for POD apparel starts before production. The artwork, fabric and size structure for each order are confirmed first, so the garment made is the garment ordered. During production, printing, cutting and sewing are checked as part of the route, and finished garments go through a quality check before packing and shipping. We do not publish one wash-test number for all fabrics and designs, because it depends on the order. If you have a specific quality requirement, include it in your inquiry so it can be confirmed for that order.
Buyer pain points
- A sample that looked right, but the bulk run drifted in print position or sizing.
- A customer complaint you cannot trace back to a check that was never specified.
- A peak-season run where a defect found by the end customer costs more than a check before shipping would have.
The check sequence
- Before production: artwork, fabric direction and size structure confirmed.
- During production: printing, cutting and sewing checked as part of the route.
- Before packing and shipping: finished garments go through a quality check.
- Anything specific (a measurement, a print area, a finish) must be stated in the inquiry so it can be checked against — it is not assumed.
Inquiry checklist
Copy this checklist into the inquiry form: Product: quality control for POD apparel / Design file: upload or link + print placement / Quantity: test 1pc, or peak-season estimate / Sizes: size range / Country / Region: North America / Europe / Middle East / Australia and New Zealand / Delivery timing: date needed / Notes: anything that must stay exact.
State your quality requirement in the quote: Contact Us — product, design, sizes, quantity, and the exact check you need; MOQ 1pc.
Pitfalls
- Saying “good quality” with no measurable requirement — there is nothing to check against.
- Assuming one wash or durability result applies to every fabric and design.
- Leaving the quality requirement out of the inquiry and raising it after shipping.
